Mercy-USA for Aid and Development is continuing to assist survivors of the devastating December 2004 tsunami in Aceh Province.

From June to September 2009, Mercy-USA for Aid and Development is carrying out a fourth round of English language and computer training courses for orphans in Aceh Province. Forty orphans are enrolled in these courses. Twenty are studying English, while the other twenty are learning how to use common office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as internet skills.
From February to May 2009, Mercy-USA carried out a third round of English language and computer training courses for orphans in Aceh Province. Forty orphans successfully graduated from these courses. Twenty studied English, while the other twenty learned how to use common office software.
From September to December 2008, Mercy-USA carried out a second round of English language and computer training courses for orphans in Aceh Province. Forty orphans from the Al-Azziziyah Orphan Center located in Lambaro, Aceh Besar successfully completed these courses. Twenty studied English, while the other twenty learned how to use common office software.
From November 2007 to April 2008, Mercy-USA carried out the initial training sessions. About 30 orphans successfully completed these courses, which were held at Mercy-USA’s office and two orphanages, the Muhammadiyah and Penyantun Islam Orphan Centers.
