Haiti Earthquake Response

On January 12, 2010, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti leaving over 225,500 dead.  Approximately three million persons - one-third of Haiti's population - have been affected, and one million people have lost their homes.  Port-au-Prince, the capital city with a population of over 2 million persons, was left largely in ruins.

Mercy-USA for Aid and Development is planning to partner with a United Nations agency that is active on the ground.

Dedicated to alleviating human suffering and supporting individuals and their communities in their efforts to become more self-sufficient, Mercy-USA for Aid and Development has been assisting survivors of disasters since 1988, including the Indian Ocean Tsunami, the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan, ongoing droughts in Somalia and Kenya, Cyclone Sidr in Bangladesh and the 2009 Gaza Crisis.
