On January 12, 2010, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti leaving over 225,500 dead.  Approximately three million persons - one-third of Haiti's population - have been affected, and one million people have lost their homes.  Port-au-Prince, the capital city with a population of over 2 million persons, was left largely in ruins.

Mercy-USA for Aid and Development has partnered with the United Nations Childrens Fund (UNICEF).  Through a $40,000 grant, Mercy-USA is helping to support UNICEF's child-centered projects focused on health, nutrition, education, child protection, water, sanitation and hygiene for Haiti's earthquake-effected children and their families.  Click here to read UNICEF's grant acknowledgement letter.
